Knowing The Difference Between MB/sec (KB/sec) and Mb/sec (Kb/sec) Data Speed Unit Can Make A Difference

Just like in real life, most times it is that tiny things that you neglect that usually make the difference.

Also similar in examination halls or job interview, you will always find out that the examiner or the interviewer mostly come up with tiny and tricky questions that if care is not taken, will likely confuse those taking the exams or being interviewed.

Now, going to the topic of discussion, we noticed that many internet data users don’t usually take note of little thing like differentiating the known units of data consumption speed when given Byte per second or bit per second.

You will agree with us that Byte and bit are two different units of data storage in a disk; and while it’s a common knowledge that 1Byte is equivalent to 8bit, people often fail to take cognisance of the difference between these two similar units when abbreviated, to know which exactly is being put to use, especially when they are given as part of data speed measures/units in MB/sec (KB/sec) or Mb/s (Kb/sec).
differentiating-MBps-with-Mbps-data-speed-unit

Sometimes these data speed units are simply abbreviated straight like in MBps (KBps) or Mbps (Kbps) without functioning them as given above.

But the most important thing to note here and the point we are trying to point out is the capitalization of the “B” part in the given units and also when used with small letter ‘b’.

Many folks out there ordinarily don’t usually use to take note of that, and they end up mixing up things together or complicating things, and hence one might find it difficult to engage in meaningful or knowledge driven arguments with them.

Most times, they are usually of the opinion that whether written as Mb/sec or MB/sec that it is always Mega-Byte per second, having forgotten that it can as well mean Mega bit per second depending on how the units were abbreviated.

Must Read:  http://pinkberrylicious.blogspot.com /2014/09/still-confused-about-mini-micro-and.html" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;" target="_blank">The differences between mini SIM, micro SIM and Nano SIM

Therefore we are using this opportunity to clear up the air and for knowledge sake, it is important to take notes of some of these little things that can actually make a difference when it will matter most.

And we are going to be putting it straight or correcting the wrong notion that anywhere data speed units are written in Mb/sec or MB/sec that they both stand for Mega Byte per seconds.

As you can see clearly, one has capital B in it, denoting Byte whereas the other has the small letter b denoting bit.

And we earlier said that 1 Byte is equivalent to 8 Bit, hence you should from hence forth take note that when you see data speed unit given as MB/sec, it is refers to Mega Byte per seconds which is higher than Mb/sec, which denotes Mega-bit per seconds.

A typical example can be seen on the image above, you will notice that data download speed there given in Kilo bit per second (Kbps) contrary to what many of you might refer to as Kilo Byte per second (KBps).

Innjoo Fined N4 Million By NCC For Selling Substandard Phones, But See What Innjoo Did Immediately

The Lagos office of Innjoo mobile technology was besieged this week by a team of Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) personnel, where it was reported that a fine of 4 million Naira was earlier imposed on Innjoo for selling substandard phones to consumers.

According to NCC, in August 2015 their enforcement action on Innjoo led to the discovery that Innjoo was selling phones that were not approved by them.

And that as a result of the recent raid, Innjoo’s Lagos office was sealed up for violating the NCC law put in place.

Furthermore, NCC noted that with the type of unapproved phones that Innjoo is selling that network quality will be hindered.

But guess what?

As NCC raided and imposed the N4million fine and sealed Innjoo’s Lagos office for selling substandard phones, Innjoo immediately brought out the money and paid in cash, and this immediately led to NCC lifting the suspension as Innjoo continues their normal business.

Will I incur Any Fee If I Fail To Renew Godaddy Domain After Expiration And Grace Period?

Godaddy is one of the major and widely known Domain name registrar out there on the internet.

They are also into web hosting and other services, but our studies show that webmasters engage Godaddy more on domain name registration than web hosting for the reasons best known to them.

Now going by the topic of the day, we understand that some of you might have registered a domain name with Godaddy and maybe you ordinarily want to know what exactly will happen when your domain name expires and you fail to renew it, especially on whether you will incur any fee for failure to renew.
will-Godaddy-bill-me-for-failing-to-renew-my-domain-after-expiration

While some of you that have gotten their Godaddy domain expired and have received Goddaddy’s 12 days grace renewal period mail that goes like this;

“PLEASE NOTE: if you do not renew your domain(s) during the 12-day renewal grace period, you may incur a fee of $80.00 in addition to the domain renewal fee….”

Undoubtedly, that message appears quite disturbing especially if it was your first time of seeing it, and the first thing that goes into the mind of many that got domain name with Godadday is on why Godaddy will charge them such an amount for failing to renew their domain, and what if they are no longer interested in the domain, will Godaddy still go ahead to charge their payment method attached to their Godadday account such an amount?

Must Read: http://pinkberrylicious.blogspot.com /2014/08/can-i-use-single-coupon-code-to-buy.html" target="_blank">Can I use a single coupon code to buy multiple domains on the same Godaddy account?

Now, here is the main deal; Godaddy normally gives their customers the ability to set their purchased domain with them on auto renewal or manual renewal.

By default, domain name purchased from Godaddy are set to automatically renew after expiration date, but there are sometimes that you might not want that to happen and therefore you decided to set the domain renewal to manual.

When you have set your domain name to manual renewal, and the domain name expires, that is mostly the time you receive the message above from Godaddy.

If you are faint hearted individual, the moment you get that message from Godaddy, you will tremble and always be tempted to quickly renew your domain.

But what if you are no longer interested in the domain and still get that disturbing message, would you still go ahead to renew the domain that you no longer need because of fear of incurring the $80.00 on condition?

Maybe you miss-represented such mail from GoDaddy and that is why you are scared of getting billed even in the domain name that you are no longer interested on and that is exactly what is sending that shock wave of fear down your spine whenever you receive such mails or similar ones from Godaddy.

Recommended: http://pinkberrylicious.blogspot.com /2016/03/how-to-buy-domain-name.html" target="_blank">How to buy a domain name

Of course, Godaddy knows exactly well on how to put their customers on high jump in order to lure them to keep on patronizing them…good business idea if you might ask me!

This is what you should know about such mail from GoDaddy; GoDaddy did not out rightly tell you that after the 12 days grace period that you will be billed with $80 for failing to renew but here are the 2 things that are involved, when you fail to renew GoDaddy domain after the 12 days expiration date.

Firstly is that after the expiration of the 12 days grace period given to you by Godaddy and you did not renew the domain within those periods, Godaddy will move the domain for redemption.

At this point if you still need the domain and want to get it back from redemption that is only when you will incur additional fee of $80.

Secondly is that, if you no longer need the domain and you did nothing or did not indicate that you want it, even after it entered redemption period, the domain will die a natural death (pass through the stages that it will be made available to the public again) and you will not incur any charges.

We believed that we have been able to allay your fears on whether you would incur additional fee if you fail to renew your Godaddy domain, which you are no longer interested in.

Buying And Using An iPhone In Nigeria, A Wasteful Move, Self-Imprisonment Or A Wise Venture?

The iPhone, which is a brand of Apple Inc., has for years being a top notched device and force to reckon with as far as smartphone is concerned.

Although Apple with their iPhone devices has most times fallen only 1 step below top phone manufacturer in the world, Samsung but whenever iPhone is mentioned in the smartphone industries and various mobile markets across the globe it always sends a unique shock wave and often coated with all manners of exquisiteness.

In fact the iPhone is an enigma when it comes to smartphone and its premium built both in design and performance cannot be denied.
is-buying-and-using-iphone-in-nigeria-a-wise-or-wasteful-venture

Unlike Samsung which runs on android OS and is more common down here, iPhone runs an entirely different OS known as iOS.

However, one of the drawbacks that the iPhone often presents itself to people over here is that they often tag it as very expensive phones and thus many shy away from acquiring one iPhone for themselves.

But on the other way round, for those that can afford an iPhone device in Nigeria, they have mostly done so in a rather ostentatious manner and have converted the iPhone as a device for flaunting and show of class rather than the primary purposes in which smartphones were meant for.

Must Read: http://pinkberrylicious.blogspot.com /2013/09/blackberry-sinking-ship.html" target="_blank">Blackberry a sinking ship?

Now coming to the main topic of discussion, apart from iPhone being one of the best phones in the world, many Nigerians desire an iPhone for class and others for reasons best known to them; many times too, they have failed to picture the other sides of using an iPhone in Nigeria by not weighing the pros and cons of owning and using a smartphone here.

Some, because of purely show of class have ignorantly overlooked the cons associated with the use of iPhone in Nigeria, where some more knowledgeable others consider using an iPhone in Nigeria as total self-imprisonment, since the iOS is not as flexible as the android platform when it comes to mobile phone tweaks.

Now we want to present to you the general pros of the iPhone that some of you desiring it might not even be aware of.

•  iPhones have always come with their unique and generally admirable premium designs with iconic single round home button that might finally be getting ditched in 2017 as Apple plans to overhaul design of the iPhone in the nearest feature.

•  Coming down to app availability, many android lovers often mistakenly think that android alone has it all when it comes to apps, but like android, the iOS, can reasonably match up android with apps, as iOS apps are equally almost inexhaustibly…let’s put it simple; iPhones have lots of apps that you can play around with.

•  Talking about performances, as far as we are concerned, we don’t think that any other phones in the world can go shoulder to shoulder with iPhone at the mention of “performance”. iPhone’s chipsets are well optimised to produce the best mobile performance task that you can think of, and this is why iPhones processors are usually the fastest and even a 2GB RAM iPhone can perform as well or better than other devices with 4GB RAM.

So, when you really want to talk about smartphone processors performance through real testing and usage, you should just reserve the king’s chair for iPhone.

What about battery performance?

•  i Phones also have very strong battery optimisation features, and little wonder you will see an iPhone with 2500mAh battery capacity outsmarting those other devices with 3,000 to 3,500mAh capacity. Its battery optimized efficiency can easily be seen in the i Phones retention power; for example, you can leave an iPhone in sleep mode for many hours and still come back to see its battery percentage remaining at 100%.

Recommended: http://pinkberrylicious.blogspot.com /2016/09/the-misconception-surrounding-making.html" target="_blank">The misconception surrounding making money on a website with just traffic

All said for the pros, now let’s equally look at iPhone’s cons that can easily keep you biting your finger on whether to buy that iPhone and use in Nigeria

•  iPhones are first of all expensive devices and obviously not for any light pocketed folk out there; we are not saying that Samsung is inexpensive, but some are quite affordable and with its android OS, which is an open source platform it is easier and widely and readily available.

•  Many iPhones these days don’t come with external support for memory (space) extension and hence you are often limited to manage with the available internal memory.

•  Off course by now you should have known that iPhone is a jealous device and does not allow Bluetooth transfer of any kind to other devices

•  You are often left without file manager to easily handle and tweak your files

•  Many of you love music, but your music library can only be managed with iTunes and hence you need a laptop/computer to use in manipulation of your music library, and the worst of it is that the computer must be unique; use another computer and risk losing all your files immediately

•  You cannot juxtapose or side load apps with your iPhone.

In other words you are almost caged using iPhone in Nigeria as iPhone does not give you that flexibility of usage that you might desire since tweaking iPhone is almost not in existence.

And yes some of you might talk about easing iPhone imprisonment by jailbreaking, but even at that you can never compare the flexibility that android offers to that of iOS.

Finally and after reading our submissions above, will you say that going for an iPhone in Nigeria is a wasteful move (self-imprisonment) owning to its high cost and also the fact that there is high tendency that you might not use the device the way you like or is it still a wise move to go for one, owning to the fact that you are getting for yourself that premium device?

The Misconception Surrounding Making Money With Website By Mare Large Web visitors (Traffic)

Even as of today, many people out there still don’t really know how a website generate fund or how people make money online in general.

Many still have the opinion that website owners make their money whenever they attract web visitors to their sites even without the visitors taking any action and that the more the visits the higher the webmaster earn.

They believe that anytime a web surfer visits any website that the website owner’s account (bank account or online account) is being credited with some amount of money and that the more people visits that the website owners are often smiling to the bank to cash out.

Though, it is not a strange misconception as even some of the webmasters out there have once nurtured similar idea in their early stage.
the-general-misconception-on-how-a-webmasters-earn-money-by-huge-web-visitation

But those that are knowledgeable about the online businesses and how website owners earn money with their sites know quite well that a plain website (not monetized) will never and cannot earn the owners a dime even if the site attracts millions of visitors and pageviews every day.

And that it is a pure misconception that all website owners out there earn money by just attracting visitors to their plain websites.

Maybe after reading some of the lines above, your next question will be; how then those website owners truly generate fund to their website?

Must Read: http://pinkberrylicious.blogspot.com /2014/04/5-major-challenges-facing-internet.html" target="_blank">5 major challenges facing internet entrepreneurs

And yes the answer is simple! For a website to generate any form or size of income, that particular website must be monetized, and it is only then that the number of visitors count can be a potential determinant factor on how much the website can generate.

The 98% of website on the internet today generates their income mostly by one form of online advertisement.

This online advertisement could come in the form of third party affiliate product marketing, contextual ads placement from ad network providers, own-products advertising etc.

Finally, it is now time to banish the idea that website owners generate cash by just attracting web visitors to their site even without monetization.

I Cannot Open Word Documents That I Downloaded With My Phone, See What To Do

Some persons have contacted us recently based on the above topic that whenever they download Microsoft word documents with their android devices, that they are often unable to open it to view contents.

Though it is a minor issue but we decided to share the solutions to all so that those of you having similar problem and don’t know what to do will also take a cue from this tutorial.

We will be going straight to the point at tackling the issue on ground.

Now, what happens sometimes when you download word documents file with your android phone, let say maybe from mails with the document file attachment, is that the files are most times converted to bin file.
how-to-open-word-document-files-converted-to-bin-files-on-your-mobile-device

Bin format means that the file was converted to binary document format, which is not a text file but computer file, and thus the bin file extension that you often see with the document.

And ordinarily your phone cannot open bin files directly and the question now is that since the document file that you download have been converted to bin file, how can I open with my phone (document app) to view the content?

Must Read: http://pinkberrylicious.blogspot.com /2016/08/how-to-save-webpages-for-offline_16.html" target="_blank">How to save webpages for offline reading with mobile UCbrowser

We can tell you that even if even you decide to transfer the file to your Windows PC to open it directly, it will still not open.

But you don’t really need to transfer the files to any other device to open since your phone comes with document viewer applications.

Now, all you need to is for you to use the file manager on your phone to rename the file, simply changing the file extension from .bin to .doc
bin file

After that, you have succeeded in converting the file back to its original document format and you should now be able to open it with your phone to view contents.

As we initially said, this is often a minor issue but the thing here is that, many people often forget to apply the solution highlighted above and thus often run into difficulty viewing the document files they downloaded with their phones.

Alert! The Bonus Values On Airtel Smart Connect Tariff Plan Was Increased To 600% But Don’t Do This

Airtel SmartConnect is Airtel Tariff plan that allows onlynew airtel prepaid subscribers to now have a 600% bonus data/airtime value credit on every recharge.

Airtel just recently modified this airtel SmartConnect tariff plan that used to give 500% bonus airtime and 1GB bonus data on every N1000 recharge and above when subscribers load credit with the *555*PIN# code.

But with the recent modification of the plan it is no longer that way and Airtel recently sent out notification messages to their subscribers about the changes from 500% to 600% bonus but did not detailed how the new modification now works and hence some airtel subscribers went and fell victim to it and are now telling stories that touches the heart about the modification.
Airtel-increases-smartconnect-tariff-plan-to-600%

But today, we are going to be detailing the real thing that is now obtainable with the latest modification of the Airtel SmartConnect tariff plan.

Must Read: http://pinkberrylicious.blogspot.com /2016/08/how-to-change-etisalat-data-transfer.html" target="_blank">Know your Etislata data transfer PIN and how to change it

Now listen up!

In the airtel message, Airtel simply told their subscribers that “with effect from August 23rd, your 500% bonus has increased to 600%”and that they should load with “*555*PIN#”

But if you are on Airtel SmartConnect tariff plan, this is what will happen to you if you now go ahead to recharge with *555*PIN#;

All your airtime will be converted to 600% bonusand you will no longer get 1GB bonus data even if you recharge with N1000 worth of airtime and above.

In other words in this new modification, if you go ahead to recharge with that code, you will not get any airtime credit on your main credit account balance as all will be converted to 600% airtime bonus credited in your bonus account.

For example if you decide to recharge your line with N100 worth of airtime with the *555*PIN#” code, the N100 will not be credited to your main balance account but you will automatically get N600 in your bonus account balance, which amounts to the 600% bonus.

And also note that the implication of that is that you cannot use the bonus to subscribe for data bundle, but you can only use it to call all networks and browse the internet directly.

But on the other way round, if you want to get the bonus and keep your airtime, you should now recharge with the normal airtime recharge code, which is *126*PIN#.

By so doing now, you will get your recharge amount credited to your main credit account, and 500% equivalent bonus equally split and credited to your airtime bonus account and data bonus account, all amounting to 600% bonus.

For example if you recharge your line with N1000 worth of airtime credit, you will get N1000 credited to your main airtel account balance, N2,500 airtime credited to your airtime bonus account and N2,500 credited to your data bonus account.

It is important to note that all bonuses are valid for 7 days and main account credit and bonus account credit are all charged at 50K/sec (N30/Min) rate.

To check for balance simply dial *123#
